Background
Being the oldest of 3, she has always had the responsibility of being the third adult of the family. Their family always sat on the edge of poverty, and could barely pay the bills. They all lived in a small, 2-bedroom apartment, and that quickly got annoying with 2 other children running about. Persea and her parents had to work long and hard, just to scrap out enough to eat. Persea had to quit school when she was 13 to help take care of the family, and for 2 years she had worked for a shipping company unloading boxes. However, the family still couldn’t afford to pay for food, housing, and their debts even with all 3 working. So, Persea, wanting the best for her family, decided move out. Her parents didn’t want her to go, but knew that one less mouth to feed would cut the spending dramatically. So, her mom and dad both pulled enough money together to get a plane ticket to California. She arrived in Pacifica, but found herself without a place to stay. On her first night, she wondered around aimlessly, trying to find a place to stay. She couldn’t find anywhere, and was forced to sleep on the streets. She was awoken in the middle of the night by an odd glowing. Unfortunately, the glowing was a Digimon escaping into her dimension. The Digimon (kiwimon) took one look at Persea, and figured that it was time for a snack. The kiwimon attacked Persea. Persea dodged, and ran for her life down the alley she was in, with kiwimon close behind. She arrived at the end of the alley, which had been fenced off. She whirled around right as kiwimon made a lunge for her. Right before kiwimon struck Persea, a bright light flew from above and knocked him down. The bright light had been another Digimon, Renamon, who had just “happened” to break through to Persea’s dimension at that moment. Renamon used Diamond Storm and defeated Kiwimon. Kiwimon’s data separated, then re assembled into a digivice. Persea, who had been frozen with shock, has even more terrified when the tall fox thing, took the glowy, shiny thing, and walked over to her.
“I believe this is yours” Renamon said hostilely. “It would be best not to lose it. I was sent here to protect you, and that’s what I intend to do. I cannot stay in this city for long…call me with the tool when you need me.” At this point, Renamon jumped up and over the fence, and disappeared in the darkness, leaving Persea lost and confused. After one week in Pacifica, she managed to find housing (low rent, smelled of feet, and generally poor living conditions) and a job, and also tried to convince herself that the encounter had never happened. Things were still a struggle. She had barely enough money for the rent, and she often had to forgo eating in order to make ends fit. She eventually sold most of the belongings she had taken with her, leaving her with only 2 pairs of clothes and a barrette her dad had given her, and the strange device she had gotten on her first day there.
Then it happened. The fusion of the worlds was very sudden, and had caught Persea off guard. She had been in the park when it happened. She was just sitting on the bench trying to think of what to do next. She had just been fired from her job, and her rent was looming just a week ahead. She seriously thought about stealing, or even leaving the city completely. She just felt hopeless… when she felt a strong rushing of wind. She thought the wind was just wind, but it had actually been a gargoylemon materializing behind her. She didn’t know, and it raised its paw, ready to slash at the unsuspecting human. Before he could, He was struck in the back by a sharp kick, and sailed through the air and into a tree. Persea saw him soar across, and turned her head to see what had attacked it and saved her. It was, of course, Renamon.
“How could you be so stupid? You would be dead if it wasn’t for me. I guess I need to follow you around now, don’t I?” Renamon snorted.
“What? Who are you?” Pleaded Persea.
“I am Renamon, your guardian. It would be best if you were to stay out of trouble. Like I said, this city is walking death traps… come. You mustn’t stay here. I know a place where we can go.” Renamon turned her back to Presea. “Unless, of course, you want to stay here. “ Presea, with no job and horribly housing, with barely anything left, followed her. Renamon, without warning, jumped back into the shadows and disappeared. Presea was scared for a minute, but then her device started going off. She forgot that she had brought that with her, and looked at it. It showed a little red dot standing still, and a green dot moving away from it. She followed the little green dot, until she arrived at the shore of Pacifica. There stood Renamon, in what looked like a makeshift raft made out of a house doors.
“Come. It is far to the island.” Renamon motioned for her to get on the boat. Persea, now sure that she was going to never go back to the city, obliged. The bother shoved the boat off and slowly used the long, wooden planks as oars to row towards what seemed like nothing but open water.. Persea was not a weakling; she had done plenty of manual labor in her lifetime, and was able to easily row. Half way though the trip, she had asked Renamon why she was helping.
“Its my job, my purpose, to make sure you live. I am here because you must live.” She said without any sign of emotion. After a long silence, she spoke up again. “I know the island well. In my world, it was my island. Once I came to yours, I knew it existed here as well. Now that the worlds are joined, there should be plenty of game there, as well as my dwelling. You will be safe there.” The didn’t say a word for the rest of the trip.
Renamon motioned to stop when they reached, what seemed to Persea, nothing. Just water. Renamon then reached out and grabbed some invisible object, and pulled on it. Then the island slowly materialized into view.
“The island is protected b my seal, thusly rendering it invisible to humans. Only I can open it to even let a human in.”
Persea was amazed at the island. The island was a desolate little piece of land, only about the size of the average mall. But what it lacked in size, It made up for in life. There were many different life forms on the island, Digimon and Animals alike. Not only this, but the entire island was a thriving ecosystem, with forests, beaches, a mountain, and even a hot spring. Renamon jumped out of the poorly constructed raft, and walked off into the woods, with Persea following contently.
The arrived at the mountain (it was more of a jarred hill, but Renamon liked to call it a mountain), and near the base of the mountain, was a small hut.
Persea and Renamon lived on the island for the next 6 months. Renamon was good at hunting, and was able to get enough food for the both of them. Not only that, but Renamon was training Persea to be able to fight and defend herself with a small dagger. With the animal hides, Persea created new clothes (she used to make clothes for her younger sisters with her old clothes), and she fought along side Renamon whenever possible. Renamon even taught her about the digiworld. However, after 6 months, something happened. A swarm of Gesomon attacked them. They made landfall and attacked there dwelling. Renamon had expected that they would be shoved off the island anyway, as she already knew whom Realemon was, and how she was hunting down the digi-destined. She and Persea had to fight there way back to the raft, and took off with only a little food. The Gesomon chased them, and after many hours of chasing and fighting, they managed to sink there little boat.
Amazingly, Persea woke up on the shores of Acadama City. Renamon was also passed out next to her. She had no idea where she was, or even why the gesomon hadn’t finished her off…
She is currently living near Acadama City, at the docks. She is renting a room at the docks, and works part time as a deckhand for the ships stationed there. Renamon lives elsewhere, away from the docks. She fishes, and can live off what she finds in the ocean. Persea only works half the day, and spends the rest of her time with Renamon on the shores fishing.
