Darkness and Light: The battle of the Heart

**Night, Dec 15, 2005**

Shayde levitated them both at high speeds. However, just before they reached Kertermus Island, his power began to fail. He faltered, but did not fall. He headed into the forest in the island, and found a cave. He set Jasmine down in the middle of the room in the cave, and wavered where he stood. "Jasmine...I...cannot....ugh..." He fell to his knees, then fell forward, and caught himself with his hands. He struggled to remain consous. "The Darkness...I tapped into...too much...to handle..." He finally collapsed. However, it was not without effect. His digivice reacted to his situation. And his Fallen Paladin Mode powers kicked in in accordance to it. The darkness was trying to take over his heart. It was eating away at him. He was supposed to be the balanced one, yet also the Paladin at the same time. Unfortunatley, turning to the Fallen Paladin was too much. His crest began to glimer gold slightly, but faltered and went black again. Then, it shined gold slightly again, and the digivice sent a beam of white energy at Jasmine, and a beam at the Digivice, and suddenly, half of the Crest was black, and half gold. Jasmine was pulled into Shayde's mind, and the chaos within.

It was a strange room. Plain. Half had a Black and Red theme, half had a Gold and Blue theme. There were doors all down the walls on both sides. It was obvious that it was Jasmine and Shayde. Shayde's side was currently all dark. So it was obvious where Jasmine had to go. However, one of the doors opened, farthest from where Jasmine was. It was Shayde. Or, at least, it looked somewhat like him. It was the main embodyment of his dark side. Another door opened, nearest jasmine this time, and a golden version of Shayde appeared, but he seemed very weak. It was the ultimate ombodyment of his Light. The other doors opened, and varying degrees appeared. Suddenly, as if the two opposite Shayde's were the plauge, the others ran, slamming the doors. Golden Shayde charged at Black Shayde, and Black Shayde kicked him in the Jaw, knocking him stumbling back, then laughed. "The Darkness will take over. It is too late. Why do you struggle? Your fate is already sealed!" Dark Shayde turned, and walked through his door, closing it as he laughed. Once he was gone, Golden Shayde shook his head, turned, and walked up to jasmine. "This is....strange. I dont like this....look, you dont have to do this, but....the thought of turning into another of those dark creatures....." He shivered at the thought. "Something got out, something that I should never have tapped into. It was a dreadfull mistake....I dont know why I did that...." He said, though it was obvious from the way he said it that he did. "Er....I dont know for sure what we have to do to contain it again, but....I think we need to look around to find out. It seems access to your mind has opened as well...lets not mess with that....will you come with me? I am weak....I am afraid I might not be able to survive another encounter like that......"

"Yeah," Jasmine said, still somewhat in a confused state, but glad that at least for now she wasn't illusioned to be able or unable to do things. "It's the least I can do for what you did to save me." she paused, thiking. "Sorry I'm the cause of all of this. If you hadn't come to save me, it wouldn't have happened." Somewhere in her mind, she knew that she was sounding like Jenni, but, it was the truth.

Shayde noded his head. "Do not worry. You are not the cause of this, I am. You see, I could have done that better. Unfortunately, I was a fool. I tried to use the power I had sealed away ages ago. My dark side is equal to my light side, its just been suppressed all this time. Also. I could never leave you in that filthy creatures hands. You see, I drew you in here...er, I hope you dont mind. You see, I need your help. The darkness, as you saw, has taken over, and there is not enough light left in me to combat the darkness. That is where you come in. As with me, your darkness is contained, so most of your mind is still light. I need your light to help combat my darkness. hmm..." He trailed off in thought for a bit, then turned to face Jasmines side of the room. That is, the side of the room that represents Jasmines mind. "Mabe we can use your coinsiding parts of your mind to fight my dark components. Lets start from the bottom, and work our way up. That will allow me to build strength so as to fight, and contain my Dark Embodiement." Shayde ran across the room, to the first door down from Jasmine's light embodiement, which was right across from his. Her doors were identicle to Shaydes. He opened it, and there was a long hallway, but sombody was running twards them. It was a version of Jasmine. It was the part representing Hope. Shayde's dark side is taking all the Hope away from him, so his is dark, and nearly snuffed out. It ran to jasmine, and fused into her, making her gain a slight gold aura. Very slight, though. "That will help us combat my dark version of that." Shayde ran across the room to the door opposite it, to his version of the door, and opened it. When he did, a dark blast came at him. He triggered a trap. He blocked it, but was weakened in doing so. "Gah, a trap. We will have to continue through this doorway, and find him. We will have to watch for more traps like that. Ready?" He turned to face Jasmine.

Jasmine nodded slightly, staring down the path. "I'm still pretty confused by all this, but yeah." She turned to Shayde. "Um, the way you are right now, maybe I should go first." She straighed out her dress, pushing out the thought of how she'd do things in a dress. But it had always been okay before, so it would now.

Shayde shook his head. "I dont know what to do....." Then it hit him. "Well...lets go side by side. Then you can help....its just....I cant justify sticking you out front and hiding from my own problem..." Shayde noded his head, this time, more confident. "Lets go." Shayde turned and waited for Jasmine.

"Sure," Jasmine said, smiling. "And it's not hiding from a problem. Everyone needs help at times, you can't do everything alone." Jasmine paused, and giggled. "That's funny, I remember you telling me the same thing the other day."

Shayde laughed. "Indeed I did....." They began to walk down the hallway. "Well, some times, you have to stand and face your problem yourself, sometimes you need help, but still have to face it yourself. This is one of those.....because I dont think you can do this alone, it will take the both of us." They reached a turn, and when they turned, they saw the next room way down the hall. Somone, though it was hard to see, from the distance, was standing in that room. "Hmm, that might be him!"

"Yeah," Jasmine said, seeing him. "Any idea exactly how to do this?"

Shayde smirked, and placed his hand on Jasmines shoulder. "I think I got just the idea." For a second, it seemed as though he was about to pass out, with the way he closed his eyes and wavered, but quickly he regained his stature, and seemed a bit restored. He charged forward at this target in the distance......

Jasmine ran after Shayde, still not sure what to do.

Strangely, it did not take long for them to reach the next room. Shayde stopped, facing his dark component. "It is time." Golden Shayde said. Black Shayde laughed, "There is no hope left for you!" Golden shayde then laughed in return, "That is where you are wrong. There is still hope for me. Jasmine is here. There will always be hope for me in her, even if I myself loose it!" Golden Shayde charged at Black Shayde, and kicked him in the face, knocking him stumbling. Black Shayde dropped suddenly has Golden Shayde charged again, and came up with an Uppercut, knocking Golden Shayde flying to land at Jasmines feet. Golden Shayde looked up at Jasmine and laughed, "Oh, fun fun, looks like this is going to be harder than I thought." He said all casual like, then rolled over, just in time for a fist to slam into the ground where his face once was, then, after they both got to their feet, Golden Shayde charged, dropped, and came up, grabbing Black Shayde by the throat as he did so. He charged away from Jasmine, so as to keep her out of danger. Then, he slammed Black Shayde into a wall, but Black Shayde kicked, and sent Golden Shayde stumbling back. Golden Shayde jumped, and drop-kicked Black Shayde in the face just as Black Shayde started to charge at him. The shot connected, sending him falling. Once Black Shayde hit the floor, Golden Shayde quickly grabbed him, and threw him into the center of the room, and lunged again. Black Shayde attempted to dodge, but Golden Shayde caught him too quickly. Golden Shayde grappled with him on the floor. "JASMINE! NOW! BIND HIM! BIND HIM!" Golden Shayde yelled......

Jasmine ran over to where the two Shaydes were. "Okay," she said, looking down at them, trying to think of how to actually bind him. She didn't have anything to physcally do it, but she had to find a way, to help Shayde. She noticed that she felt something, inside her, something familiar.

She suddenly remembered, she had done this before, binding darkness. Years ago, with Jenni. The situation was different, but the end result would be the same. She would stop this darkness inside Shayde. She tried to how she and Jenni had done this before. Focusing the energy inside herself, and using it to stop the darkness. Stop the Black Shayde.

Black Shayde began to glow black, as his energies tried to resist. However, Jasmine began to glow with a golden aura that was a bit stronger, and Golden Shayde got out of the way. Black Shayde was levitated, against his will, up halfway between the floor and ceiling, in the dead center of the room. Suddenly, a golden light beam bigger than he was formed from the ceiling and the foor right where Black Shayde was, binding him. Golden Shayde looked at Jasmin, and smiled. "It worked. Thank you." Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and they were at the main room again. This time, they were standing dead center between the next door over tward the Dark Door. Shayde looked at Jasmine. "Lets see whats behind door number three, shall we?" Then he ran over to Jasmines door, and opened it, or rather, started to. It burst open, and a golden version of Jasmine toppeled into him, knocking them both down. They both got up, and Golden Shayde laughed. The Golden Jasmine fused into regular Jasmine as before, and the golden aura around Jasmine got slightly stronger. It was Freindship. Shayde nodded at Jasmine. "Time for the next one!" He ran over, and reached for the door, and laughed, "There might be another trap!" he opened the door, but stepped aside as he did so. Another Dark Beam came out, but missed. It died away before it reached Jasmine. Jasmine was standing just past the line to her mind, and the dark beam stoped at the deadline. "Ha, outsmarted that one. lets go!"

Jasmine ran over to where Shayde was. "You were completely right, on us needing to work together. Just like Jenni would said. So I gues if we keep this up, it should go relatively easier, right?"

Shayde nodded his head, "Yeah, this should get easier, but I am sure Loyalty will show up here somewhere, and that one will be dificult....second strongest to my dark side itself. But lets get going." Then he senced it, something had come running. He grabbed Jasmine, and quickly moved them both to the side just in time. A second blast had come. "Hmm, they are getting smarter. I am going to have to take note of that." Then they ran down the hallway, occasionally stepping aside as an energy blast came. Not one shot hit. This time, it was a straight shot to the room. He was standing in the middle of the room, sending those blasts all along, tring to keep them from making it that far. His tactic failed. Golden Shayde laughed at Black Shayde. "Well well, here we go again."
